Constantino’s of Greenwich hosted its grand opening on Sunday, May 15. The restaurant is located at 699 West Putnam Ave. in Greenwich.

Owners Michael and Robyn Bordes began working to open their own restaurant together in July and went through a lengthy approval process.

“It was definitely a lengthier process than we anticipated," Robyn said. "But it worked out, and we’re opened, and we’re thankful to be open."

Robyn said she has been working in the restaurant business for decades, and Michael has experience building restaurants through his construction business.

The restaurant reflects their close family ties, with the dishes on the menu named after the adult members of their family, and the ice cream flavors named after the children in the family.

“When Michael and I got together our families merged so well together,” Robyn said. “It’s been such an incredible process. We wanted to convey that love story and the story of family through our first restaurant together.”

Constantino’s serves a variety of traditional Italian dishes and specialty pizzas, such as chicken marsala pizza, buffalo chicken pizza, and a salad pizza made with homemade vinaigrette.

The restaurant first began serving customers a few days before the official grand opening, and Robyn said the reception from members of the community has been very positive.

“The community welcome has been absolutely incredible,” Robyn said.

Robyn also added that the restaurant is sensory-inclusive, with a quiet section where people who have sensory disorders can use headphones and sensory toys.

She said her close friend’s son has autism and seeing their journey inspired the couple to ensure that the restaurant was a place where everyone can feel comfortable and at home.

“Somebody who is coming in could be affected by noise,” she said. “So, we wanted to be something that’s home and comfort for anybody that’s there.”

Constantino’s is open Tuesdays through Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sundays from noon through 8 p.m.
